The Health Educators is a program designed to provide products that will enrich knowledge of and experience toward healthy living. The program also supports the development and implementation of educational tools which have the potential to result in voluntary health-related behavior change.
Mission
We have a strong desire to connect research to non-academic communities. Many times the benefits of health education materials do not pass through the health care organizations and educational institutions and other intellectual ranks to communities with practical applications. We desire to be a liaison between researchers and parents, teachers, and children by providing products that will assist with translating findings into action.
Goals
The goals of the program are to provide products that will promote healthy lifestyles and quality of life. Inherent in these goals is to develop health education and promotion materials and to become actively involved in the health issues related to healthy living, nutrition and disease prevention.
Services
We are Health Educators and Community Advocates with the responsibility to educate the people and encourage self-responsibility for healthy living. Health is a reflection of how we choose to live. Prevention is the best cure and our goal is to help people recognize how their choices affect health and develop culturally appropriate materials and evidence-based products aimed toward motivation for change in health behavior and coping with illness and dysfunction.
We are committed to serving our community and will utilize the knowledge and experiences to educate and lead people toward healthier lives. We will also be actively involved in the health issues related to underserved populations and the disproportionate burden of preventable diseases. We are confident this combination will allow us to help educate our community on health-promoting and health-damaging factors. The community emphasis and health promotion objectives will also guide the development of preventive programs for educating the youth of risks and harms of unhealthy behaviors, understanding that healthy children are likely to become healthy adults.
